The adoption of a quota of $40,000 for the state, exclusive of Chicago, and a quota of twelve hundred members for the Zionist Organization, was decided upon at the Illinois State Conference on Palestine held here Sunday.
With delegates from practically every Jewish community in Illinois in attendance, the conference in its morning and afternoon sessions discussed the problems affecting Palestine and the Zionist situation in this country.
Harry A. Frankel, State Chairman of the Zionist Organization, presided. Louis Mueller, Mayor of Peoria, extended the city’s greetings to the delegates.
The conference was arranged under the auspices of the Midwest Zionist Region, of which Max Shulman, of Chicago, is President. The occasion was also utilized for a meeting of the Midwest Administrative Committee, which was attended by officers of the Regional Zionist Organization, including ten states in the Middle West.
Speakers at the sessions included Mr. Shulman; Prof. Gustave Klausner, of St. Louis, Vice-president of the ## and H. Steinberg, of Chicago, Chairman on Organization. Edwin Lehman presided at the banquet held Sunday evening.
David M. Citron of this city was elected president of the Illinois State Zionist Organization.
