Many civic organizations here mourn the death of Mrs. Bertha Strauss Sternberger, wife of the late Emanuel Sternberger, philanthropist and prominent cotton mill owner here.

Mrs. Sternberger, who died on Feb. 17, left an estate valued at several million dollars. In the absence of a will, the estate will go to Mrs. Sternberger’s two daughters.

A short time ago Mrs. Sternberger established a $100,000 scholarship fund known as the Emanuel Sternberger Educational Fund.

Mrs. Sternberger, who was active in many humanitarian causes, including Negro welfare work, was a member of many civic and religious organizations in this city. Shortly before her death she contributed $25,000 towards the erection of Temple Emanuel in Greensboro.

The Jews of Gloversville, N. Y. and vicinty are rounding up the additional pledges to close the campaign of $75,000 for a Jewish Community Center in Fulton County.

The money to which will be added a $100,000 gift from Lucius N. Littauer, will go toward the erection of a new building adequately equipped for community purposes.
