Schechita Prohibition Measure Fails in Sweden

The Swedish Parliament voted down a proposal aiming at the prohibition of Schechita in Sweden.

The proposal was sponsored by the Society for the Prevention of Cruelty to Animals. The bill included provisions for punishment of ritual slaughterers because of cruelty. The Government declared that ritual slaughter does not represent cruelty to animals.
