New Jewish Groups Seek to Be Settled on Land, As Towns Face Crisis

An urge to settle on the land, recalling the 1923 spontaneous back-to-the-land movement among Russian Jews, is manifesting itself in various parts of Russia.

An increasing number of Jewish families are arriving in Crimea, seeking an opportunity to settle on the land. This movement is said to be the result of the renewed economic crisis in the Jewish towns and villages.

Notwithstanding the approaching Passover holidays, 255 families arrived in Evpatoria today seeking to settle on the land immediately.
