An appeal has been issued by the Frankfurt Committee of the Jewish Women’s League, asking help in providing employment for Jews who observe the Sabbath.
“It is the task of world Jewry,” the appeal says, “to assist those persons who, in the hustle and the materialism of the present age, have retained sufficient inner strength to observe this essential Jewish Commandment, so that they should be able to maintain themselves. We would ask firms and business people, directors of bureaus, factories, warehouses, to have sufficient moral courage to give employment if only to a few apprentices, workers, clerks, etc, in their enterprises, where they should be able to observe the Sabbath. This would be an action of great Jewish significance and of practical value, worth more than all the conventional assurances which are nowadays so fashionable.”
