The first Pacific Coast Jewish social service conference closed its sessions here, resolving itself into a permanent organization.

A permanent committee, representing the major Jewish agencies in the larger communities of the coast was chosen. I. Irving Lipsitch of Los Angeles, was elected chairman; Mrs. L Sweet of Portland; Mrs. A. Newman of San Diago; Miss May B. Goldsmith of Seattle; S. G. Holoenberg of San Francisco; Miss Dora Berres of Los Angeles, were elected to the committee.

The Jewish Federation, its problems and needs was the subject of discussion during the sessions of the conference. Mr. Lipsitch and Dr. Samuel C. Kohs of San Francisco presented the subject. Mrs. William L. Hyman of San Francisco. Mrs. Isaac Swett of Portland and Miss May B. Goldsmith of Seattle led the discussion.

Harry J. Sapper of Oakland spoke on “What further work needs to be done to make our Jewish national welfare funds more effective?” The discussion was led by Lloyd W. Dinkelspiel of San Francisco and Louis Wachs of Oakland. “Jewish youth and training for Jewish leadership” was the topic prsented by Harry Kenin of Portland and Arnold Perstein of Berkeley. Dr. Herbert J. Samuels of Oakland led the discussion.
