Louis Behr, a Jewish student at the University of Wisconsin, was awarded the Kenneth Sterling Day Trophy for “Christian character, distinguished service and scholarship.”

In making the award Prof. Carl Russell Fish stated that the Faculty Committee which chose the winner felt that the word Christian nowadays had come to mean a certain standard of conduct instead of adherence to a certain faith.

Beside the Day trophy, Behr was awarded the Big Ten Conference Gold Medal for proficiency in athletics and scholarship. He was captain of the University of Wisconsin basketball team this year.
