Jewish Immigration to Mexico Continues

Jewish immigration to Mexico continued during the month of May.

One hundred and sixty-six Jewish immigrants, the majority of whom come from the Ukraine and Poland, arrived here . During the month three immigrants returned to their old home.

According to information received by the immigrants from their relatives abroad, it is predicted that a greater number of Ukrainian Jews is planning to leave for Mexico. The economic situation here is unsatisfactory and immigrants who arrive here without funds or who do not come to relatives, find it difficuIt to gain a livelihood.

COPELAND TO STUDY THE WORK OF HIAS IN EUROPE

Adolph Copeland, president of the Chicago Branch of Hias, has been appointed special commissioner to Europe to study the Hias work there, according to an announcement made by Mr. Abraham Herman, president of Hias.

Mr. Copeland who will be accompanied by Mrs. Copeland, will sail from New York on the Republic on June 8. Mr. Copeland has been president of the Chicago Hias branch for over a decade.

Prior to their leaving Chicago, Mr. and Mrs. Copeland were tendered dinners at the Covenant Club and the Temple B’nai Israel of which Mr. Copeland is president.

Felix M. Warburg was one of the vicepresidents of the Welfare Couneil of New York City re-elected at the annual meeting of the Board of Directors of the Welfare Counell in the Russell Save Founadtion Bullding, New York.
