Leaders of the Zionist Administration and opposition contested sharply in the election of delegates to the forthcoming Zionist convention in District No. 7, New York City. The district is entitled to four delegates.
A majority report, brought in by the nominations committee, proposed for election Samuel J. Rosensohn and Abraham Tulin. A minority report, presented by Meyer W. Weisgal for the administration, proposed Louis Lipsky and Morris Rothenberg. Both the administration and the opposition members of the committee agreed on Dr. Stephen S. Wise and A. L. Liebovitz.
In the vote, which was by secret ballot, Samuel J. Rosensohn and Abraham Tulin, opposition leaders, were defeated and the following were elected as delegates: Louis Lipsky, Morris Rothenberg, A. L. Liebovitz and Dr. Stephen S. Wise. The candidacy of Dr. Wise was proposed by Mr. Weisgal, editor of “The New Palestine.” On a motion of Mr. Weisgal, Messrs. Rosensohn and Tulin were elected as alternates, together with Dr. Lipset and Mrs. Charles Hyman. The election meeting was presided over by Dr. Leo Glushak.
