Elijah Adlow, special assistant corporation counsel of Boston, who was unsuccessful candidate for attorney general of Massachusetts is being prominently mentioned as a possible successor to Arthur K. Reading, who resigned following impeachment proceedings in the State Senate. Adlow was defeated by Reading as Republican nominee at the last State election.

The successor under the law must be named by both the House of Representative and the Senate. Following the resignation of Reading, a movement for Adlow was launched. Two other prominent lawyers are candidates. The resignation of Reading is still pending.

Adlow is a member of the Republican party and will receive support form many quarters.
