Many Jewish houses were washed away in the flood which has caused great damage in Vitebsk and Mosir.

The damage to Jewish property is estimated to be great. No casualities have been reported.

The Atereth Zion congregation of Chicago Is erecting a synagogue at a cost of $160,000. The structure will contain schoolrooms, meeting halls, a vestry room, and an auditorium with a capacity of 1,100 seats. Edward Steinborn is the architect.
