Dropsie College Appoints 5 Fellows

Appointment of Fellows for the academic year 1928-1929 was announced following the annual meeting of the Board of Governors of the Dropsie College for Hebew and Cognate Learning.

In the Biblical department Robert Gordis was re-appointed, Mayer Sulzberger Fellow and Pinchas-Romanoff of the University of Paris; in the Rabbinical department Simon Hurwitz reappointed, Nathaniel Soroksky of the University of Jassy; Samuel N. Kramer was appointed Elizabeth A. Lazarus Fellow in the department of Cognate Learning, and Michael M. Zarchin, Oscar S. Straus Fellow in the Historical department.

The report of the librarian showed a total of 35,587 volumes catalogued. The considerable additions were received during the year from the libraries of Mayer Sulzberger and Henry Malter. Additions to the library were received from individuals and institutions in various parts of the country and abroad, the largest donor being Lessing J. Rosenwald.

In the recent publications of the Genizah issued by the Jewish Theological Seminary, edited by Professors Ginzberg and Davidson, a number of manuscripts of the Dropsie College were published.

At the close of the term, there was a total of sixty-eight students in attendance, thirty-eight students in attendance, thirty-eight men and six women in the regular morning courses; twelve men and twelve women in the evening courses.
