Soviet Officials Make New Arrests on Charges of Speculation Activities

All officials of the Jewish artisan association in Vitebsk, including the president, Udkin, were arrested by the Soviet secret police on the charge of connection with speculators. They are accused of harming the government cooperatives and helping private commerce.

Some government officials are among those arrested and further arrests are expected.

Moisei Galp Rin, manager of the customs department of the Soviet Transport Organization, Debroflot, was sentenced to death for having helped foreign concession firms in Russia to obtain credits from the government bank. With these credits, the firms were enabled to operate on Soviet funds without investing their own money, the court found.
