A petition urging the World Peace Congress which is in session in Warsaw “to protest against the propogation of anti-Semitism” in European countries, was submitted to the General Secretary of the International Peace Bureau here.
The move was made by the Jewish Women’s League, the body which was largely responsible for the adoption by the World Peace Congress at its 26th annual session held in 1926 in Geneva of a resolution condemning the anti-Semitic movement and particularly the anti-Semitic outbreaks and practices in the European universities and colleges. The Women’s League urged the World Peace Congress not only to reaffirm the resolution adopted in 1926, but also to elect a committee of ten leading European personages who are active in the international peace movement to formulate a program of combatting anti-Semitism in behalf of the peace movement. The Women’s League pointed out in its memorandum that since 1926 many anti-Semitic outbreaks occurred in various countries, particularly in Roumania.
The General Secretary of the International Peace Bureau informed the Women’s League that the Committee on Current Questions of the World Peace Congress will give its consideration to the proposal.
