Hias Worker Returns from South America

Mr. Aaron Benjamin, honorary secretary of the Hebrew Sheltering and Immigrant Aid Society of America, returned today on the S. S. Southern Cross from an extensive study of immigration possibilities in South American countries. Mr. Benjamin was away for over three months and was a member of the Hias-Ica-Emigdirect delegation. The other members of the delegation were Mr. Louis Oungre of the Jewish Colonization Association (Ico of Paris) and Dr. Myron Kreinin president of the Emigdirect.

Mr. Benjamin will report at the next meeting of the Hias Board of Dirctors to be held on July 24.

More than 300 delegates from the United States and Canada atended the Aleph Zadek Aleph convention which close today in Denver Alfred M. Cohen, national president of the Independent Order B’nai Brith and Dr. Boris D. Bomen, national secretary, were among the principal speakers.

The program for the convention included visiting both the National Jewish Hospital and the Jewish Consumptive Relief Society.

Impressive ceremonies marked the breaking of ground yesterday for the new Temple Beth-El in Itbaca. N. Y. The temple will provide a long felt need for the Jewish students of Council University who have herefore been unable to find a place in which to workship.

The ceremony was opened with a prayer by Rabbi Louis J. Schwefel of Washington, D. C. Addresses were made by Prof. Charles L Durhrn representing Cornell University: Mayor Fred B. Howe, representing the City of Ithean: Rev. J. H. ## pastor of the First ## Church. representing the ## Joseph F Hickey, representing the Y. M. C. A. Henry ## chairman of the program committee presided.
