Jewish Farmers in Jersey Hold Annual Field Day

At the annual field day of Jewish farmers from South Jersey, held here, Gabriel Davidson, general manager of the Jewish Agricultural Society, presented certificates of award to New Jersey winners of the Society’s prizes for outstanding achievement in agriculture during 1927. Farmers from the entire district and their families attended the celebration.

William Duryee, State Secretary of Agriculture, and Senator David H. Agans, Masten of the State Grange, were among the speakers. Raymond Lipman presided at the meeting.

New Jersey farmers, Mr. Davidson stated in making the presentations, carried off a large number of prizes in compeition with entrants from eleven states scattered throughout the country. Jerseyites won nearly one fourth of all the prizes. In the divisions of award for outstanding contributions to community welfare and of helpful contribution to the farmstead by farm women went to New Jersey. Nathan Sklover of Hightstown and M. Levine of Woodbine. N.J., both former residents of New York, won the prizes for contributions to community welfare. Mrs. Mary Estomin and Mrs. A. Pincus both of Toms River, were awarded prizes for contributions to their farmsteads. Mrs. Rebecca Katcher won the second prize in this division.

The Board of Directors of the Jewish Welfare Fund of Indianapolis, approved the recommendations of the General Budget Committee for appropriations to thirty-six organizations totalling $5,825.
