Introduction of a numerus clausus against Jewish attorneys at the Hungarian bar is now being planned by the government, it was stated here on good authority. Steps for the introduction of this timitation are to be taken in the fall by the authorities, notwithstanding the protest of the association of Hungarian lawyers.
If put into effect this numerus clausus would affect a great number of Jewish jurists as seldom. if ever, is a Jew appointed to the bench.
The Liberal press commenting upon the latest device of the government. expresses the fear that the limitation will be extended to the medical and other professions, driving the class of Jewish intellectuals into a situation of despair.
