The Rosh Hashanah services in the Rekemet synagogue were interrupted for several hours due to a panic which broke out among the worshippers when shots were heard in the synagogue.

At first it was believed that a bomb had been thrown. The police investigation, however, showed that the shots were fired accidentally from a revolver in the pocket of a fifteen-year old boy, Kellermann, a blacksmith’s apprentice. A fifteen-year old student, Lebovicz, was killed by the shot.
