Demand Action for Jewish Physicians Segregation at Conference

The Association of Jewish Physicians in Poland has published an open letter in the press, drawing public attention to the anti-Jewish discrimination practiced at the Medical Conference held a few weeks ago at Ciechocinek.

“It is unbelievable,” the statement says, “that such a thing could happen. Doctors were invited to attend the Conference, and when they came, they found that they had been divided into two sections, according to faith and origin. One section was accommodated in the main banqueting hall and the Jewish doctors were put into the smaller hall. We cannot allow this occurrence to pass in silence or with a shrug of the shoulders. It is a blatant manifestation of anti-Semitism and Chauvinism, an assault upon the most elementary principles of humanity. We demand that the Medical Association, which cannot approve of this anti-Semitic attitude on the part of a few individuals. should take action in the matter. Public opinion and the Democratic press have already condemned this attempt to segregate the Jewish doctors. We now wait for the Polish doctors as a body to condemn it and remove the stain upon Polish science, so that the Ciechocinek scandal may be relegated to oblivion.”
