A sharp conflict between the Hungarian Minister of Education and the Senate of the University of Budapest has arisen because of the numerus clausus.
The Minister of Education addressed a letter to the Senate asking that thirty additional Jewish students who graduated with honors from the secondary school, be admitted to the University. The Senate refused. It was stated in parliamentary circles today that Count Klebelsberg is determined to enforce the admission of the thirty Jewish students.
GOVERNMENT TO ESTABLISH TRACTOR STATION AT CHERSON
A tractor station to aid the farmers in the Cherson district, where many of the Jewish colonies are located, is to be established this year, according to a decision of the Ukrainian Comzet, governmental department for land settlement.
From 200 to 250 tractors will be made available, one for every 200 to 250 desiatin of land. The cost of the station is estimated at 1,500,000 roubles, including the tractors and all necessary expenses.
The decision of the Comzet is a step toward the stabilization of the Jewish land work in Southern Ukraine, where the production methods have been hither to uncertain due to frequent bad crops. More tractor stations are to be establihsed in the future.
The plan for the station has been submitted to the Central Comzet and to the Agrojoint for approval.
