The Jewish community of Gurzne, Posen, is now in sharp conflict with the municipality over the possession of the synagogue site and building.

During the critical period following the World War, when Posen was transferred from Germany to the Republic of Poland, the small Jewish community of the town emigrated. Lately, many of the former residents returned to their old homes and applied to the township for returning the synagogue which had been occupied in their absence. The municipality refused and declared that the building will be put up at public auction.
