David Kaufman of Elizabeth, N. J., died on Thursday in New York at the age of 78. Mr. Kaufman was the head of a large firm of metal reclaimers. He was a founder of Congregation B’nai Israel, of which he had been president for 25 years. He was a liberal donor to charities.
