A new Jewish debate developed in the Roumanian parliament on Monday when the former Minister of the Interior, Octavian Goga, notorious anti-Semitic leader, stated that the government is preparing a new agrarian bill. This bill, he stated, would enable the Jews who are “foreign to the soil” to acquire land and to engage in agriculture.

Deputy Seicaru, member of the government party, who participated in the debate, agreed with Goga that the Roumanian parliament “is no place for Zionist deputies.” This remark called forth a reply by Deputy Landau, Zionist, who declared that the Zionists run for election as equal citizens of the country and not as Zionists. Their election to parliament testifies to the compatibility of Roumanian patriotism with Zionism, he declared.
