Famine Affects Jews in Northern Lithuania

Thousands of Jewish families in Northern Lithuania, the region affected by bad crops, are now facing starvation.

The peasant population in the region has already sold its live stock and farm implements to buy food. Small trade in the neighboring towns has ceased completely. A relief committee has been formed with the assistance of the government, it was declared here.
