A hill aiming to make it compulsory for the teachers in the public schools in the State of Ohio to read ten verses of the Bible daily without comment was introduced into the legislature by Reprentative Lleyd Weaver of Summit County.
The hill is said to be backed by the Ku Klux Klan and follows closely the Buchanan Bible hill which was passed in 1925 by both branches of the legislature but vetoed by former Governot Donahey.
Those in iavor of the new measure are confident of its passage because the present governor, Myers Y. Cooper, has been the president of the Ohio Council of Churches for some time. Legislators opposing the hill declare that Governor Cooper is opposed to the policy and that he has so expressed himself.
Determined opposition is expected to come from the members of the Cuyhoga delegation both to the Weaver hill and to a newly introduced Senate hill which bars all who are not citizens from obtaining employment by the state.
The new Bible bill would force teachers under penalty of dismissal to read the Bible in the schools.
