Dr. Emanuel Libman, well-known pathologist and bacteriologist of New York, has given $10,000 to the Johns Hopkins University to establish a lectureship in the department of the history of medicine.
Announcement of the gift was made by Dr. Frank J. Goodnow, president of the university, at the commemoration exercises of the university Friday afternoon at the Peabody Institute.
“The lectureship,” Dr. Goodnow announced, “is to be named the Hideyo-Noguchi lectureship in honor of Dr. Noguchi, whose work in connection with the Rockefeller Institute of Medical Research is so well known, and whose tragic death in the carrying on of medical research has so recently occurred.”
