O. E. d’Avigdor-Goldsmid and Leonard Montefiore issued an appeal in behalf of the Board of Jewish Deputies and the Anglo-Jewish Association, for relief of the famine stricken Jewish population in Bessarabia.

The number of persons requiring help in the towns in the famine-stricken area varies from thirty to seventy-five per cent of the total Jewish population, the leaders stated in their appeal.
