Detroit Federation Holds Annual Meeting

The second annual meeting of the Jewish Welfare Federation of Detroit was held at the Phoenix Club Sunday. Dr. John Slawson, the executive director of the Federation, Fred M. Butzel and David A. Brown addressed the meeting.

In the absence of Samuel Summerfield, president of the Detroit Service Group, Henry Wineman, who presided at the meeting, read the report in which the Service Group pledged to work for the collection of all outstanding pledges before it again organizes for the spring drive.

The financial report of Meyer L. Prentis, treasurer of the Service Group, stated that pledges to the drive three years ago amounted to $740,000, and that thus far $499,283 was collected, with $209,268 yet to be collected.

Walter Fuchs, president of the United Jewish Charities, the property holding agency of the Jewish Welfare Federation, presented a financial statement showing a not worth as of Dec. 31, 1928, of $369,117, or a gain of $15,747 over last year. Members of the boards of the various constituent societies were elected.
