An attempt to secure a favorable attitude on the part of the Jews in Austria and abroad toward the Heimwehr, the Austrian fascists, was made today by the leader of the Heimwehr, Steidler.

In a statement published in the “Wiener Journal,” Steidler declares that the Heimwehr members do not favor attacks on Jews. They are glad to suppress anti-Semitic outbursts. However, they are opposed to those Jews who are followers of the Marxian Socialist theory, especially the “destructive elements of the East European Jews who now reside in Austria.”
