Budapest Jewish Population Declining

A decline in the Jewish population of the city of Budapest was shown by the figures of 1928, just published here. An increase in the number of Jews who left their faith is also seen, the reason given in the summary of the statistics being intermarriage.

During 1928 there were 344 Jewish proselytes, an increase of 74 over the previous year. Since 1920, when the Jews in Budapest numbered 315,512, the population diminished by 8,000 of whom 3,000 left their faith.
