Unable to reach an agreement on the language question in the Jewish schools of Poland, the conference called to establish a basic principle for the administration of the Jewish schools in order that they might be included in the law project for the minorities schools, was closed and the question postponed for another conference next week.
Representatives of the Polish Socialist Party P. P. S., which is preparing the law project, emphasized to Jewish leaders present at the conference that it was impossible to recognize Yiddish as the only language of instruction in the Jewish schools while a number of Jews demand that Hebrew and Polish also be employed.
A law project on the Jewish school question is also being prepared by the Club of Jewish Deputies. The Jewish deputies recommend that the language of instruction in the Jewish schools be either Yiddish or Hebrew, leaving the decision to the local school committees and the Kehillahs.
