The House Committee on Commerce. Manufacture and Retail Trade of the Minnesota Legislature recommended for passing a kosher foods bill to protect consumers against misrepresentation.
Under the measure, butcher shops selling kosher meats would be allowed to sell only such meats as have been approved as kosher. Where both kosher and non-kosher meats are sold, a store would be required to advertise on its windows that non-kosher meats also are sold there.
Rabbi Herman Cohen of St. Paul and Rabbi David Aronson of Minneapolis appeared before the Committee arguing for the bill.
