The Union of Jewish Women decided at a Council meeting held here to send delegates to the international Conference of Jewish women which will be held in Germany in June. The place of the meeting is tentatively fixed at Berlin.
Mrs. Model, who presided in the absence of Lady Herbert Samuel, the President, who is abroad, said that Mrs. Rebekah Kohut who was the President of the World Congress of Jewish Women which met in Vienna in 1923 was anxious that the questions raised at that Congress should again be discussed at an international Conference in which representatives of Jewish women’s organizations could participate. She had therefore asked the Union of Jewish Women in Germany to convene a Conference. Mrs. Kohut’s hope was that as a direct result of the Conference a World Organization of Jewish Women could be established.
It was also decided to send six delegates to the Conference convened by the Board of Deputies for April 21 to demonstrate the desire of the Anglo-Jewish community to play its part in giving effect to the British Mandate for Palestine, and to make arrangements for the appointment of the Anglo-Jewish community on the governing body of the Agency.
