Jewish communities in Bavaria and with them the Jewry of Germany were shocked and indignant at an attempt made by one of the most rabid anti-Semitic journals to revive the ritual murder accusation. Indignant protests were issued by the Bavarian Rabbinical Conference and energetic steps to bring the agitators to account were taken by the Central Union of German Citizens of the Jewish Faith.
A Christian boy of five was found murdered in Manau, Bavaria. His throat had been cut. Members of the anti-Semitic National Socialist party and particularly the anti-Semitic weekly, “Stuermer” of Nurenburg, started an atrocious ritual murder agitation. “Blond Boy Slaughtered, Passover Blood Drawn” was the sensational headline in huge letters in the current issue of the weekly. The agitation stirred the population tremendously. Other anti-Semitic leaflets took up the cry and excited meetings were held in the entire vicinity.
The Bavarian Rabbinical Conference today took cognizance of the agitation and published an indignant protest.
“We consider it a shame that Jewry must today defend itself against the ritual murder lie. We declare most solemnly that the sources of the Jewish teachings contain not the slightest reference or hint to any such ritual murder practice. No Jewish sect believing in such practices exists or has ever existed. We are ready to establish the veracity of this statement in the courts,” the protest of the Rabbinical Conference declared.
