The trial of Trofimov, who murdered the Jewish worker Bolsheminikov in a Soviet factory in Pskov, opened today in Pskov.

The trial is made the subject of controversy between two Communist papers, the “Krasnaya Gazeta” of Leningrad charging the “Comsomolskaya Pravda” with having exaggerated the significance of the case and having unjustly accused the Pskov Communist Party leader with inactivity following the murder.

The Pskov paper reveals that a few days after the Trofimov murder, an anti-Semitic incident occurred and the assistant head of the Communist party refused to arrest the offender until the local paper brought pressure to bear.
