A ritual murder agitation which caused disturbance for a while was checked in the village Vashnikov near Bialystok.

On the eve of Passover a Christian boy who was employed in a matzoth bakery started to run along the street crying: “The Jewish baker tried to extract blood for his matzoth baking.” Immediately the streets were filled with a mob which prepared to storm the bakery.

The police investigating the charge found that the boy’s face had been smeared with tar by his employer as a joke. The police officials explained the facts to the excited mob and ordered dispersal.
