Anti-Semitism as a weapon for Communist propaganda was employed by the “Rote Fahne,” Communist organ.
During the last strike among the Austrian farm hands, the “Rote Fahne” incited the workers against the Social Democratic Party, declaring that the party maintains a passive attitude because of the fact that the interests of Jewish landowners were involved. The organ of the Austrian Poale Zion, “Der Yiddisher Arbeiter,” protested against these tactics, stating that it is likely that the growing anti-Semitism in Soviet Russia has had its influence on the Communist party in Austria.
