One hundred and forty-three thousand Ukrainian Jews have been transformed into productive workers within the last five years, it was disclosed at the All Ukrainian Soviet Congress which has just concluded its sessions here.
At the same time it was reported by the Jewish delegates to the conference that the position of the Jewish artisans is impaired due to the lack of raw material.
Instances of mistreatment of Jews were cited by the delegates who emphasized that Jews sent to the sugar factories were made so unwelcome that they were forced to return to their home towns.
