As in the Middle Ages the Jewish population in Polish cities, towns and villages, was advised to retire from the streets and their businesses during the hours when the Corpus Christi church processions are held.

Following the Lemberg outbreaks during the Corpus Christi church procession there on Sunday, precipitated by the spread of a false rumor that Jewish girls had “profaned or mocked” the religious procession, a communique was published in the Jewish press here, urging the Jewish population to “close windows and balconies of homes facing the streets and to keep the doors of (Continued on Page 4)
