Jewish Council on Minorities Rights Hears Report on Anti-jewish Excesses in Lithuania

After hearing a full report of the recent anti-Jewish excesses in Slobodka, suburb of Kovno. Lithuania, the Executive Committee of the Council on the Rights of Jewish Minorities, which held a meeting here. despatched a telegram to Prime Minister Waldemaras.

In the telegram, which was signed by Dr. Stephen S. Wise, Dr. Leo Motzkin and Nahum Sokolow, the Executive Committee declared that it learned with great regret of the anti-Jewish excesses in Lithuania, but added that it is “firmly convinced that Waldemaras, as the creator of the declaration of Jewish autonomy in Lithuania, will use effective means in order to re-establish safety and justice and to enable the development of a normal life for the Jewish population, which has collaborated to its fullest energy in the creation of the Lithuanian state.”
