Calm and order have not yet been completely restored in Jerusalem, it is becoming increasing evident as Arab individual attacks attacks are reported from all sides. Monday morning marauders broke into a house in Beth Ha’kerem, a Jerusalem suburb, and robbed it, despite the presence of a military detachment in the suburb.
The question of the security of Givath Shaul, another suburb, is still unsettled. No military are present there and shooting occurred Sunday night. Some Jewish families who had returned to their homes left this morning and others are preparing to leave unless British protection is afforded.
The atmosphere again became tense in the Old City following the stabbing of a Jew near the Wailing Wall on Saturday. Jewish residents of the Old City informed the Vaad Ha’ir that they will be forced to evacuate their homes unless greater military protection is provided.
The Jewish settlements in the Valley of Jezreel are sending urgent appeals for more workers to relieve the settlers who are engaged in guarding the colonies against attacks and are obliged to neglect their work in the fields. The Executive Committee of the Jewish Agency is endeavoring to send new workers there.
