The non-Zionists of Germany, affiliated with the Palestine upbuilding work through the Council of the Jewish Agency, declared their readiness to continue with this work in resolutions adopted at two huge mass meetings.
Herr Oscar Wasserman, director of the Deutsche Bank, and one of the leading German non-Zionists, submitted to the British Ambassador in Berlin the text of the resolutions adopted at the mass meetings called under the auspices of the German section of the Jewish Agency.
The mass meetings were presided over by Herr Wasserman and Dr. Bernard Kahn, European director of the Joint Distribution Committee, and were addressed by Rabbi Leo Baeck, Kurt Blumenfeld, Franz Oppenhcimer, Dr. Alfred Klee and Herr Lisser, president of the Hamburg Kehillah. The resolutions stated that the inefficient Palestine administration was responsible for the attacks of incited mobs against the high culture of Jewish work in Palestine and that the only answer Jews can give to these attacks is more civilization and more culture which will also benefit the Arab people.
Friedrich Brodnitz, the son of the president of the Central Union of German Citizens of the Jewish Faith, submitted a resolution on behalf of the German Jewish Youth Organization, sending to the Jews of Palestine a “brotherly message and a pledge that violence will never interfere with Jewish work in Palestine, but will rather strengthen the settlement work.” The resolution demanded the carrying out of the Balfour Declaration and the Mandate and declared that the Jewish National Home is demanded by all Jewry, is based on justice and is aimed with the cooperation of the Mandatory power and the League of Nations toward securing peaceful relations between the Jewish and Arab peoples.
