The Jewish population of Safed is gradually returning to the protected area, which is daily being enlarged. Portions of the Jewish quarter which were destroyed by fire are uninhabitable.
The Zionist authorities do not expect to rebuild the primitive quarters, but plan to replace them with more modern construction. A technical committee for this purpose is to be appointed.
