A plea that extraordinary measures be taken to save the old Yishub of Palestine from being destroyed, as the inevitable outcome of recent events, was made by representatives of that section of Jewry through the Jewish Telegraphic Agency.
The Jews are gradually deserting the old cities of Palestine because they do not find sufficient security there, the plea declares. This feeling is spreading to the Jews of Hebron, who do not wish to return to the scene filled with memories of the brutal massacre. Not only is the Hebron Yeshiva being re-established in Jerusalem, but the Hebron Jews themselves are settling there. The Jews of Safed are likewise leaving their former homes. If this continues the old Yishub will be destroyed, unless extraordinary measures are taken.
