Redoubled efforts in order that the Palestine emergency funds shall not curtail the normal contributions to the Keren Hayesod, are being undertaken. The Palestine Foundation Fund here issued the following statement today:
“The disturbances in Palestine led to spontaneous relief campaigns in numerous countries, with the result that the Keren Hayesod’s own work was necessarily kept in the background. The consequences have made it imperative that the Keren Hayesod work be set in motion immediately. The continuity of the normal work is now in danger and must be secured. The Executive and the Board of Directors have empowered the General Secretary, Leo Hermann, to organize the necessary work from London in full contact with the Executive in Jerusalem and take all necessary measures. The Keren Hayesod committees are requested to communicate until further notice directly with London.”
Leo Jaffe, managing director of the Keren Hayesod, is leaving Palestine for Europe in order to participate in the Fund’s campaigns.
Advised that complete and final payment for the Cleveland Jewish Orphan Home new buildings must be paid to the contractors by October 1st, Columbus, Ohio, which pledged $60,000 to the new building fund, forwarded its final check to Max E. Meisel, of Cleveland, the campaign treasurer, and is the first community in the sixteen states of the middle west to find a place on the honor roll for 100 per cent attainment in collections.
Children of the Orphan Home have occupied the new buildings since July, and the new buildings will be dedicated formally on November 3rd. The Jewish Orphan Home was founded in 1868 by the B’nai B’rith of Districts Nos. 2 and 6.
