The rights of the Jews to the Wailing Wall have been declared as fully justified by historical and sentimental considerations in an interview granted to the press by Monsignor Marmaggi, Papal Nuncio here.
The Wailing Wall, he said, is the oldest historical relic of the Jewish race. The Nuncio spoke with sympathy of the Jewish work in Palestine and expressed the hope that peace will be established soon in the Holy Land which, he said, contains many places which are deeply venerated by the entire Christian world.
This interview was welcomed by the Jewish population here in view of the present situation in Palestine and particularly so since it is stated that these views are shared by the Vatican.
