Jerusalem (Oct. 1)
The issuance of a call for a general strike by Arabs on Wednesday, October 2, was decided upon by the Palestine Arab Executive. The strike is intended as an expression of protest against the sentences imposed on Arabs found guilty of attacking and looting during the anti-Jewish disturbances, the Arabs considering the sentences to be harsh. The strike will also be a protest against Attorney General Norman Bentwich, whose dismissal is demanded by the Arabs.
Before learning that the Inquiry Commission had postponed its date of departure until the middle of October the Arab Executive had decided to await the arrival of the Commission before sending its delegation to London, although the Arab National League there urged the immediate despatch of the delegation.
The Arab representative before the Inquiry Commission has not yet been named, but it is reported that Abdul Hadi, one of the secretaries of the Arab Executive, will probably be appointed.
