The campaign of the Jewish Communists, urging Jewish workers to go to work on Rosh Hashonah is finding little response among the Jewish workers.
With only a few days left before the High Holidays, only 1,000 Jewish workers in 20 factories in Moscow have registered, signifying their intention to work on Rosh Hashonah, the “Emes” reports today.
Because of the approaching High Holidays, Uman, Ukraine, is filled with Chassidim who are arriving from all parts of the country to visit the grave of Nachman Braslaver. The leaders of the local Braslaver Chassidim succeeded in publishing, with the permission of the Soviet authorities, Chassidic literature for the arriving visitors. The Jewish Communists protested against the grant of the permit, demanding the liquidation of the Chassidic shrine which they term a nest for religious activities.
