The cornerstone for the new temple of Congregation Anshe Chesed Erie, Pa., was laid on Sunday with impressive ceremonies. Samuel D. Ostrow, chairman of the building committee who headed the campaign for funds for the new temple, delivered the principal address. The building is being erected at a cost of $200,000.

Tribute was paid to the late Isaac Baker, first president of the Temple who officiated at its cornerstone rites 47 years ago, and who for many months had looked forward to participating in the services Sunday. The memory of Ovid Cohen, member of the congregation, who died Saturday, also was honored.

Rabbi Max C. Currick and Morris Schaffner, president of the congregation, also spoke.

School children of the city paid tribute to the memory of Isaac Baker, who was a member of the school board for over 41 years, by standing in silence at 2 p. m. Monday, when the funeral services were held. A resolution of tribute to him was adopted at a special meeting of the school board.
