Dr. I. M. Rubinow, well known social worker, and for the past year Executive Director of the United Palestine Appcal, has been named Executive Secretary of the Independent Order B’nai B’rith. Dr. Rubinow succeeds the late Dr. Boris D. Bogen. Announcement of Dr. Rubinow’s appointment was made today by Hon. Alfred M. Cohen, president of the Order.

Dr. Rubinow is resigning his post as the Director of the United Palestine Appeal, and is expected in Cincinnati to take up his new duties on Nov. 1.

A graduate of New York and Columbia Universities. Dr. Rubinow has had wide experience in social service work, and has written extensively on social service problems. In 1911-1916, he served as the contributing editor of “The Survey,” and since 1925, has been the Editor of the Jewish Social Service Quarterly. From 1914-1915, he was the president of the Casualty Actuarial Society. In 1919-1922, he was the Director of the American Medical Zionist unit in Palestine. He has served with the United States Civil Service Commission and with the Bureau of Labor and Statistics. Prior to accepting the post as director of the United Palestine Appeal, he was the Executive Director of the Jewish Welfare Society of Philadelphia.

Mr. Cohen, in announcing the appointment, issued the following statement: “I am pleased to announce the selection of Dr. Isaac M. Rubinow to the secretaryship of the B’nai B’rith in succession to the lamented Dr. Boris D. Bogen. It would not have been difficult for me to find a secretary in the ordinary acceptance of that term. It has been. however, a very difficult task to find a fit successor to Dr. Bogen as he interpreted the scope and duties of the office.

“In Dr. Rubinow, I believe the Order will have the benefit of a gentleman of wide experience in the promotion of activities cognate to its work. He has pledged me his undivided devotion and I am confident that the Order with his assistance, will go forward to new triumphs for Jewry and humanity.”
